Living in Limbo
Planning extended travel with family takes a lot of logistical finessing. So far, I know we will be in the Hague for 10 days with friends, in Paris renting and apartment for 3 days, then in Southern France for 2 weeks with friends.
In order to extend the trip through the summer, I have applied to housesit for a German family for 6 weeks. We are supposed to be interviewed soon. If we get the job, we will have almost 3 weeks after Southern France to find a place to stay before the housesit begins. It could be that camping somewhere (preferably Italy) would be the most feasible way to bridge this gap. This possibility puts us into a state of limbo at the moment.
If we camp to bridge the time gap, our choice for luggage will be dramatically different than if we have an apartment/home for the whole trip. Also, the type of Eurail pass we would purchase would be different. I addition, the kind of help I will need to line up on the home front to keep business going while I’m gone will differ. However, I can’t make these decisions until we know if we have the job. Currently our housesit prospect is on business in Italy and not able to talk. Hopefully this will reconcile itself soon and we can proceed with preparations!
