Why Do We Have to Brush Our Hair?
"Why do we have to brush our hair, Mommy?"
"Because you’re going to have this for a long time, and believe me, you’ll be happier if you brush your hair."
That’s how you pass your insecurity and vanity down to your children. I’m pretty good at that. But we were getting passports! How many years have I had to look at my old passport picture and cringe. It wasn’t going to happen to me this time and I certainly wasn’t going to sentence my children to years of cringe – so out came the hair brush, the ribbons, and the cute shirts. Pants don’t matter – they’re not in the picture. I don’t even remember if they were clothed below the waist.
Into the post office we went. Out of the post office we went. Into the private passport office we went. Pictures taken. Back to the post office we went. My husband looked fine – but he doesn’t really care anyway.
Am I going to be able to travel with everyone and still work? The mom/wife part takes such a different energy than the professional bit. I’m worried.
