Are you thinking about planning a vacation to the beautiful Grenada, aka “Spice Island,” but unsure where to start organizing the trip of a lifetime?
If yes, you have come to the right place.
From when to visit this popular Caribbean country, where to stay for the ultimate luxury, to the must-see sightseeing opportunities once you get there, keep reading to discover how you can plan the perfect vacation to Grenada in 2021/22.
Decide when to go
Although you may have no choice but to go on vacation during the school holidays, if you can be a bit flexible, the ideal time to visit Grenada is from January to May.
That being said, it is worth knowing that Grenada enjoys a hot and tropical climate all year round, with an average high temperature of 29 to 30 degrees, so you can get good temperatures no matter when you go.
As it is a tropical location, you may experience some rainfall. This is usually heavy but brief and typically occurs from June to December.
If you love sailing, aim to visit in January as this is when the annual Grenada Sailing Festival takes place.
Choose where to stay
There are many luxurious hotels and resorts in Grenada which you could choose to book directly. However, if you are looking to indulge on your vacation truly, you may be better off checking out vacation packages in Grenada, as these will often feature all-inclusive options that allow for the utmost decadence.
Furthermore, vacation packages that include accommodation and flights, and food and drink, nearly always work out more cost-effective than booking each element separately.
Organize transport
It is not recommended to try and drive around Grenada as there are no street signs, no speed limits posted, and no real rules as to what you should and should not do. Not to mention that you will have to get used to driving on the other side of the road!
Instead, opt for local taxis, which offer by far the most efficient way to get around your chosen area.
Alternatively, take a bus or travel on foot if you are not planning to go too far.
Plan what to do
Grenada offers so much in terms of activities and sightseeing opportunities, so you may struggle to cram in everything you want to do. From learning how to scuba dive, visiting a local chocolate plantation, and going snorkeling with underwater sculptures, there is something for everyone in Grenada.
Some of the most popular tourist attractions include:
- Grand Etang National Park & Forest Reserve
- Fort George and Fort Frederick
- A day trip to Carriacou
- Diving at Grand Anse Beach
- Spice tour at Laura’s Herb & Spice Garden
